We at Sand Shack believe in the conservation of our world's oceans and
beaches, and therefore, organize ocean conservation events.
We invite every interested person to join us at the beach during these
events. Online registration is required to receive your $20 of free
jewelry and a pair of free Crocs shoes.
Currently, we are in the process of selecting dates and venues for the
summer of 2008. Keep checking back for updates.
2007 Volunteer Events
Sand Shack had two successful events during the summer of 2007.
On June 30th Sand Shack and our volunteers did clean up work at the
Marconi Beach parking area in Wellfleet. This job involved sweeping,
weeding, and trimming bushes. It was a job the National Seashore was
in great need of having done. So, we organized over 20 volunteers and
did it! And we did a great job!
On July 28th we did trail work at Pilgrim Heights Trail in North
Truro. This involved working with the National Seashore maintenance
crew to complete a trail project. A trail project entailed general
maintenance of the trail, such as filling in washed out areas with
sand, and fixing broken fencing. Trails are an important part of the
National Seashore. Without the countless miles of trails winding
through the National Seashore Park, the activities that attract so
many people to the coast, such as walking, running, and biking would
not be possible. It was a great day to be outside, and the work we did
was tiring, but necessary.
Here are some pictures from the volunteer events this summer:
